April 12th:
A Glimpse of the Light
Well, today started out like the last 3 days, but ended much
differently!!!! Again, I am blown away
at FuBing’s bravery and her intelligence.
We went to the zoo today, then went shopping (bought
nothing). We crossed our first road in
China today on foot and survived!!!! Tonight, we had dinner with an amazing
family from Australia. They are our
second God sent family of the week. They
have a beautiful adopted daughter from India (adopted age 7, now age 15) and just
adopted a 7 year old beautiful girl from here.
Their oldest daughter had dinner with FuBing and found a way to
communicate with her. I caught the
beginning of several smiles that ended as soon as she saw me looking (notice,
she is at least looking my way). They
chatted for about 2 hours while we spoke with the parents. What words of wisdom they gave us!!!! AND it
seems to have worked for now. When we
got back to the room, she did not turn sideways to stay as far away from us as
possible. She communicated to me that
she wanted water, did not want to play the 2 games that I offered, and let me
know she did not like what was on TV!
She allowed both B and I to lean on the bed and tell her we love
her!!!!!!! Then it was off to sleep.
PRAISE YOU JESUS!!!
Eden is doing very well.
She was amazing today.
Thank you all for the verses and prayers. They are meaning so much to me. I cannot individually thank you all or I
would be on the computer all night. God
bless you all.
Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that Phoebe is having such a hard time. I'm sure each day will get better.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I thank God for the hint of a change! Continuing to pray and nervous about how Kendall is going to do! Oh well, God is God and He will lead and protect!
ReplyDeleteHugs, my friend, hugs!
Praying for you guys! We pray that FuBing's heart will open up more each day and let you in. Once she does that...the world is hers! We know you two (and Miss Eden too) will love on her so much and in time all will be good! So glad we have this blog to follow your progress! Continued prayers for the rest of your time in China!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, we will continue to pray for you all. It must be so exciting to even see a sliver of the positive. When will you travel to Guangzhou? Will you be at a hotel with other adoptive families?
ReplyDeleteGod is with you all and He will continue to be with you through the ups and downs of this journey. You are amazing folks!
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

Anyone talking to her please tell her that I think Fubing is a very brave young women. I know she's sad, but it you think about it..she should be sad, time will help and I know that everyday things will get better. Amanda is doing a great job! it will get better!
I hope sometime FuBing will share with me how to help WenJuan to make the transition.
I'm praying for them!
Philippians 4:6-7
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:8-9
And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God (Yahweh), the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint; and to him who has no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall; but those who wait for Yahweh shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:28-31).
ReplyDeletePsalms 27:14 Wait on the Lord;
ReplyDeleteBe of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord.
Today's prayer- Dear Lord, Your timing is seldom my timing, but Your timing is always right for me. You are my Father, and You have a plan for my life that is greater than I can imagine. When I am impatient, remind me that You are never early or late. You are always right on time, Lord, so let me trust in You....always. Amen.
Amanda , you and Brandon have the strength and courage that we all can look up to. You are two amazing, God fearing parents. Eden and Fu Bing are very blessed to call you Mom and Dad!! We love you!!! Teresa, Keith, and AG

ReplyDeleteFor I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
We adopted a 12 year old from Huainan 1 year ago. They probably know each other. There will be some rough spots but it will improve. Many prayers are going up for all of you. Our now 13 year old is loving and happy. She is speaking English quite well with only public school help and reading too! Feel free to contact me anytime. Karen59901@msn.com & Karen Ortman Mateeff on facebook.
Yes... Our girl knew her. Feel free to get online with me later so you can show her yet another picture of a happy family here. I think it helps them process the journey and understand they are not alone in this.
ReplyDeleteAmanda - when do you return to Huntsville?
ReplyDeletePraying for all of you! "That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man." Ephesians 3:16
