Touring China

Gottcha Day!!!! April 9th

We are soooo exhausted.  I do not think I was this worn out the first go around.
We stayed busy sun up to sun down in Beijing and we got up this morning at 4am.  We made it to Hefei around 10:00, got unpacked (no drawers) (ac almost non existant!), ate lunch, and then headed off to civil affairs.  When we walked in the room, Phoebe (who at this time wants to be called FuBing) was standing there.  She let me give her a hug. Yay!!  Brando filled out all the paperwork while I gave FuBing all the goodies.  Let me say that she is very independent and smart.  She figured out her ipod touch in like 2 seconds!  She loves Angry Birds.
She is having a tough time.  She has already called her Nanny.  She has had many tears come pouring out of those big brown eyes.  She is deeply saddened and is scared.  She is sound asleep at this moment. Don’t know how long that will last.
Hopefully I can get some good pics tomorrow.  Just did not happen today.

  3. We traveled in April to get Mia, and encountered the same thing with no ac. It's not considered "air conditioner season" yet. Your guide may be able to communicate with the front desk to get a fan delivered to your room.

Praying for you guys, and for Phoebe. It's not uncommon for them to want to be called by their Chinese name for a while.

  4. I'm so sorry Phoebe is having a tough time, but that is to be expected. I hope that she will realize shortly what having a family is all about.

Hoping that every day gets easier and easier.

  5. Amanda,I am so sorry that you are so tired and this is difficult for Phoebe FuBing. I am sure she is so scared. Maybe during the down time you will have in Hefei and in Guangzhou, you will have time to bond as a family and she will understand how, though it is all scary, she will be ok. If there is anything I can do, please e-mail or call my cell. I will continue to pray for you all as you make this transition.

Thank you for allowing us to follow along in this journey!

    God Bless!

  6. Hey sweet girl! I know you are worn out but... God is leading the way and will continue to strengthen you. Know that we are all praying you through this. Phoebe FuBing is reacting to the circumstance... not you all. I'm praying you feel God's grace surrounding you all! Much Love!! The Newsoms

  7. Praying for you all and especially for FuBing as she makes this HUGE transition. I can't even imagine the leap of faith it is taking for this spunky girl! I love how sassy she looks in her blue and purple tracksuit. Can't wait to meet her once you are all home and settled in - maybe at the summer dragon boat pool party!

  8. We brought home a 14yo boy last year in Feb. He wanted to use his Chinese name for MONTHS. But about 6 months home, he chose to start going by his English name. Give her time. And if she never wants to use her English name, that's OK too. She's had her Chinese name for a very long time.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

We adopted a 12 year old from Huainan 1 year ago. They probably know each other. There will be some rough spots but it will improve. Many prayers are going up for all of you. Our now 13 year old is loving and happy now. She is speaking English quite well with only public school help and reading too! Our girls probably know each other.
